ComputerWorld (http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9142806/Court_orders_three_H_1B_sites_disabled) reports about a New Jersey judge that has ordered the shutdown of three H-1B opposition Web sites.
Middlesex County Superior Court Judge James Hurley ordered firms that register domains and provide hosting services -- GoDaddy Inc., Network Solutions, Comcast Cable Communications Inc. and DiscountASP.Net, to disable the three sites, ITgrunt.com, Endh1b.com, and Guestworkerfraud.com. Facebook Inc. was also ordered to disable ITgrunt's Facebook page.
The order was made in response to a libel lawsuit filed by IT services and consulting firm Apex Technology Group Inc., based in Edison, N.J. against the three Web sites opposing the H-1B visa program (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html). Such attacks on H1B supporters increased last year as the economic situation was gloomy, and prospects for employment were not looking good. Yet, we all know that the H1B program is not the cause of all evil and in fact is a boosting factor in creation of new jobs and opportunities for American workers. Lets hope that the antis will take it easy in 2010, and focus on the real issues at stake.

USCIS recently issued a Memo that amends Adjudicator�s Field Manual on General Form I-140 Issues. Many issues are covered, but one of particular interest to our PERM (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1135851.html)readers is the Labor Certification Validity for Labor Certifications with an Ending Validity Date that Falls on a Saturday, Sunday or Federal Legal Holiday.
DOL has established a 180-day validity period for approved labor certifications. See 20 CFR 656.30(b). An approved labor certification must be filed in support of a Form 1-140 petition during the labor certification's validity period. DOL has not published any guidance regarding the treatment of labor certifications that effectively have a validity period of less than 180 days due to an ending validity date that falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or a federal legal holiday.
USCIS will accept the filing of 1-140 petitions where the supporting labor certification validity period ends on a Saturday, Sunday or federal legal holiday on the next business day, i.e., the next day that is not a Saturday, Sunday or federal legal holiday. On Sept. 14, President Bush signed the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007, an ethics and lobbying reform bill, which enforces a number of new restrictions.
Under the new law, lobbyists are prohibited from providing gifts, food, beverage and travel to Members of Congress, their staff or employees. A violation of this law could result in civil fines and/or criminal prosecution for the Company and individuals involved.

If your lawyer or you can get through to a person at BEC maybe you could get that person would agree to accept mail addressed to a specific person at the BEC, that way there would be someone to contact to check that they have it.
Obviously they wouldn't normally do that, but if someone there believes the lawyer that it was lost twice then they might take pitty.
That way you are dealing with someone rather than a black box.

Another great design, but the text seems a bit off with the design. For the most part, in a stamp, the text should be the consistent, dull part. In my view, it doesn't look nice when italicized or stylized excessively.

If an LCA is filed before July 2010 which is a 365 day point I will be allowed to extend my H1 for another 3 years while my Green Card is in process.
Not true! In the above scenario you will only be permitted to extend your H1 in yearly increment. To get a three-year extension you must have an approved I-140 Immigrant Petition for an Alien Worker.

IO discretion.
My in-laws came in Apr'08 to US and left in Oct-08 for India. They then came back again in Dec'08 due to some issues and they had no problems - they again stayed nearly for months.

There are two sides to the issue : strengthening the domestic workforce through education, research investment etc and then there is skilled immigration. The first half no doubt enjoys unanimous support ... however, when it comes to promoting skilled immigration, it is a pretty safe bet that the anti-immigrant lobby is going to play hard ball (already evident from the SF gate article). Overcoming this lobby is the whole challenge ..

Hello All,
I have a certain queries regarding the transfer from L2 to H1B.
My husband is on L1 and me on L2 with my EAD still under processing. However my husband's firm wants to get his visa converted to H1 which automatically cancels my L2 status and I would have to apply for H4.
So now my query is for how long will his status of L1 be valid will it be till the start date of H1B, or the minute he files in his papers for H1B or when his H1B gets approved?

They are not always up to date on their processing times.
Evidently.... I guess I can't rely on it too much for predicting approval of the other applications. I heard of a similar situation too, the receipt date is very close to mine and it got approved today.

What are those little green squares that show up with our names when we post something?? When you hover over them you see a ToolTip message.
Are they supposed to tell us if we've been Naughty or Nice this year? :cool:

Oi! That IS the colour version! :D It might be a tad underexposed I guess, but any more and I would've ended up with bright white water. I could go back at a different time of day when the sun is at a more opportune spot though. I'm just not sure if it's worth it. (I guess one way of finding out is to actually go down there when the sun pops out :))
I think I'm better off hunting for more traditional landscapes (and eventually some animals -- I hope to catch some musk oxen in July, dunno what I'll do before that). :)
