In other news, the pope today announced that he is Catholic. He also confesses to **** in the woods.
No really, I expect quite a number of those things, but then at the end one more thing that nobody expects, not a phone, not another iPod, but something radically different. Just like the games at the last Stevenote, only bigger, something that will make you go Huh? Wtf ? Wow ! :) Now where's that credit card? :D

Whatever, he is a no talent hack, and a dumbass.
"AIDS is a man-made disease in the first place, that was placed in Africa just like crack was placed in the black community to break up the Black Panther party."
He also criticised politicians for "riding home in their Benzs and Bentleys while poor Africans starve".
I wonder what he drives......
i won't defend the first comment, seems kinda overboard, though i bet it's way out of context.
however, the second comment... yeah, he probably drives a sweet car, but he also isn't in a political position in which he could be helping deal with the african poverty/aids crisis...
in both quotes, you have to look at the idea behind the words, not just take the words literally. but *he's* the dumbass...

What additional value does this provide?
I was thinking the same thing. What is the purpose and reasoning behind it? Maybe a little more insight.
I don't see this ending well. See ratings for front page articles.
I can see this going down in flames also especially in some of the other sections of the forums. IE PRSI and any thread LTD responds in! :)

Looking forward to shooting with this new gear...
Jealousy kicked in all of a sudden. I'm still saving up for mine. For now trying to convince myself that my T1i is still good.
And here's my last online purchase.. iPhone 4 Case..
Really like it but I know its not going to last long.

Steve Jobs will end his presentation with "a great communicator" ad lib
story about a little girl who had her science project presentation absolutely
ruined because the CD player in the classroom would NOT play the tracks she
meticulously downloaded from the itunes store. The class gets restless and bored, turns mean and chants her to tears with the refrain: "She can't
make it work! She can't make it work! She is such a jerk! She can't make it
work!" He'll end with an aggresive campaign to take Amazon by storm with
all music all platforms! He finishes with a 3D rendering of Amazons being
routed through the jungle with gurgling quicksand swallowing them one by one. The last one holds the ipod above the sand untill it slowly sinks into
the mire like the dinosaurs in the La Brea Tar Pits!

Don't you guys have that problem over there in the States? Maybe it is because I'm in the EU? It really sucks, I guarantee..
Well, there are some benefits to being in California where the event is happening. Fewer servers in the way, and the Akamai relays they put in must be awesomely fat in LA. But I think higher def overwhelmed the live feed entirely. Even Google couldn't pay for it.

The biggest problem with Windows is Microsoft doesn't design Windows for consumers. The biggest chunk of their cash-cow comes from the enterprise. And the Windows desktop platform reflects that.
That didn't change with Windows 7. What's sad is they have a lot of innovative consumer-focused product teams (Media Center, Zune, XBOX, Live, Bing, Auto Collage, Windows Home Server, etc) that don't work together and don't have enough clout to make their projects prominent. They should let those guys develop the next consumer version of Windows instead of just throwing their different projects into Windows sporadically or in most cases optionally.
Take the Windows Live components:
Windows Live Family Safety - Should be integrated into 7's Parental Controls
Windows Live Mail, Mesh (Backup), Messenger, Movie Maker, Photo Gallery - Should be included on the default "home" version of 7
Windows Live Writer - Should be included as an optional install
http://explore.live.com/
Then you have the optional Zune jukebox, which should be the default media player in 7 instead of Windows Media Player. Windows Media Player in 7 has a really neat "remote media" feature (think Back to My Mac meets your iTunes library), but no one knows about it or how to use it. And it's not present in the optional Zune jukebox software and isn't compatible with Windows Phones or Zune devices (obvious oversight there).
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Stream-your-media-over-the-Internet-using-Windows-Media-Player
http://www.zune.com
Then there's Media Center, which really should be updated to use the newer Metro UI and adopted to be the front-end media experience on both the XBOX 360 (and I'm not talking RDP-like Media Center Extender functionality), PC (for DVD/Blu-ray playback, etc) and possibly tablet UI.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-media-center/get-started/default.aspx
There's Microsoft Research's Auto Collage, which should be included as a plug-in for Windows Live Gallery instead of a $20 separate program that no one knows about.
http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/cambridge/projects/autocollage/
The "Drive Extender" technology that Microsoft recently pulled from Windows Home Server should have been how future versions of Windows handle hard drives (no more drive letters).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Home_Server#Drive_Extender
Why Bing photos/themes aren't prominent in Windows 7 or the default wallpaper in 7 I'll never know.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/personalize/themes
Don't get me started on the lack of Security Essentials being pre-installed as part of the default "home" version of Windows.
http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
The list is endless. It's like someone is asleep at the top. And the rest of Microsoft takes the attitude of "We make that? OK. Well, let's just throw it up on the Web site."
Yes indeed. We all know it's an unfocused mess. Preaching to the choir.
However, it's good to remind everyone of that now and then. I hate it when MS fans get their hopes up for nothing. Like with the Zune, etc. And pretty much everything else they've half-assed outside of videogames and boxes to play them on.

Happy Birthday, OS X. I've known you since 2007 when my computer running that other OS got the nastiest virus I had ever seen. (Fried the hard drive AND the power supply)
After that happened I went to the local Apple store to check out "The Apples" as I called them at the time. I had always been told since I was a kid that "Apple computers are terrible", but I wanted to check them out. Needless to say I picked up a Mac mini that day and haven't looked back. I've since owned two macbook's, 3 iPod's, 4 iPhone's, 1 iPad and am about to pick up my second Mac mini.
I couldn't be happier. :apple: fan for life!

I personally don't even look at the challenges...however, i think they do them to get quick XP and level up quicker. If they threw in penalties for death (maybe some sort of negative XP) i think players would be more careful.
Thats the conclusion i came up with. I'm just wondering why the games haven't turned to that yet. The reckless game play and strategy is an epidemic in the game. I feel like i'm playing with retards.

well it's not looking very good. it should have posted a bigadv unit by now. and my number of gpu units are looking lower - which means that something crashed. man it only had 12 hours left on the bigadv unit when i left, and now nothing. it was folding way at around 34:30 per frame inside a VM.
Bummer :( that's aggravating...

I've passed by Lawyers, Doctors, even a Judge (I know because as a youth I got schooled by her) listening to Kanye West, LL Cool J, Queen Latifah. Why? Because it gives them a motivative sense of power, a sense of "I'm above the rest" that most other genre's of music doesnt provide. Rock N Roll comes really close, but from what I've heard, I cannot pick 10 artists/groups in all their albums that brings it like Rap/Hip-Hop.
luckily not all rap/hip hop (especially the non US ones) gives this sense of "i'm above the rest" .. since they are nowhere as good as the funny, more language acrobatic ones IMHO
but i'm 22 and not 15 and didn't grew up in the gettho or something
(thankfully my younger brother(13) jumped straight to rammstein ;) )

And I'll take this any day over Windows.
so, u'd let steve jobs decide what u can and can't do with your computer? thats kinda sad ...
Whew!! They also brought Safari's "Drag Image to Desktop to save Image File" back in this Preview Build. :D
In previous Lion Builds, dragging an image to the desktop resulted in a Safari Link file to the Image's location on the web.
this got already fixed with the last update tho

The Register called shenanigans on this. I would have sent it to Arn to post but the whole thing seems absurd. I'd wager Apple's contract stipulates going all the way to Intel and probably a certain duration as well at least a year of selling all computers with Intel chips.
AMD somehow got behind Intel in terms of power and I've seen no signs of catch up. Not to say that in a year or two they won't be ahead, but not any time soon.
Apple won't introduce a AMD based machine until late 2008 at the earliest. I would almost expect a return to PPC first.
