You are right - that part of the tutorial is completely broken, and I need to modify it a bit. I am not 100% of the changes you need to make yet, but I will post an example shortly with the changes :)

Can somebody mention how long it took to get AP approval at NSC ? I applied for AP at NSC on June 12th and I booked ticket for my wife for Aug 3rd, I was going to join her to India and booked my for October, I figured I would carry both the AP's and use it for coming back, now I am reading that AP has to be approved before she leaves or else it is no good. Can some body put their approval times at AP in recent times, so I can decide to change tickets accordingly ?

Contact a good attorney asap. Your details would most probably raise anyone's eyebrows at USCIS/DOS/ICE. Also, a lot depends on exact dates when you entered/left US and when your different applications were rcvd by respective govt egencies as these details will help you to establish that you are not in violation of any US laws. I think this is a step forward...but aint cutting it...your status remains "in process for years"...everyday check the same url and it says gives the same stale status...what we need is a way to make a resonably accurate guess as to when my LC will go into the next stage..

I'm assuming too that your husband is the primary applicant for the I-485. Does your husband have his I-140 approved because if he does then I believe he can file for 3 year extension? In my opinion, it's good to have your H1 or H4 intact just in case something happens to your application. I also think that having EAD and AP also benefits you for emergency purposes. Hope this helps!

My friend with july-07 filer (I-140 approved in Jan-07) lost H1 in Mar-08 and work on EAD and his company move to new address in May-09. USCIS site visit on Aug-09 to old address for H1-b (one year ext) for his co-worker. His co-worker got letter form USCIS to submit documents in Dec-09 for existance of the Company. Company inform everyone in Nov-09 that it is going out of business and shutting down operation in Dec-09.
What are the options my friend and his co-worker with (LC/I-140 approved form another company) have??

I have returned from India on AP three days ago. Immigration officer just asked questions on my employment, but he did not ask for proof. If you have multiple APs you should submit all of them for stamping. Thats it!
I got AP..and H1B till 09..I am hoping to reenter using AP while comming back from india..Apart from AP do I require anything else. like employement letter to reenter the contry??..

Hi ,
I have I-140 approved(ABC company) and have 5 months left in my first 6 year cycle. I was laid off from the job. A New employer XYZ applied for my H1B extension based on I-140 approval and got approved for 3 years.But I was unable to join
XYZ due to family situation and moved back to India.
Questions/options:
1. Can a new employer apply for H1B extension based on my I-140 approval even though I am not in USA.? My I-140 has not been revoked or cancelled.
or
2.Can I claim the remaining time on my H1B approval(based on I-140) with company XYZ ?I have copy of the H1B approval but not sure if it has been revoked.
Please advice.

I am not sure if someone is in same situation.For my I140 it says the following
Current Status: Document mailed to applicant.
On April 1, 2009 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service.
I am not sure what does this mean. If some one can throw some light.

I will be happy to share the reason, if it was known to me.
But my company & their attorney are not sharing any details..
Left with no choice.. but to wait with hope..
Better to start new labor process if your are nearing 6th year on H1. these audits take forever and mostly have -ve results. and the employers/attorneys are not helpful either.
